Sportshall
Specialising in Sport! has led the development of Sportshall Athletics across Coventry, Solihull & Warwickshire whilst also regularly supporting projects elsewhere in the region. Having instigated competition amongst schools and clubs, the county has one of the most successful programmes in the UK.
Sportshall Athletics is widely regarded as providing the perfect framework for introducing and developing athletics with young people. Incorporating skills, awards and competition, Sportshall provides young people aged 8 – 15 the ideal start in athletics.
Primary Schools
Sportshall is ideally suited to Primary Schools and supports the teaching of key athletics skills. The Sportshall Award offers a great way to reinforce this teaching, gauge the progress of young people and reward success. Sportshall competitions are staged across Coventry, Solihull & Warwickshire leading to a series of local finals and culminating in the Aviva Sportshall Primary County Final staged annually.
Secondary Schools
Competitions for Years 7 and 8 are held across the county, prior to the Aviva Sportshall Secondary Final being staged. The County Champions go forward to represent Coventry, Solihull & Warwickshire in a regional final each year.
Warwickshire Sportshall League
The League provides competition for athletics clubs and their athletes throughout the winter months. Based at Coventry Sports Centre, the League delivers six meetings between October and March each season. Warwickshire has enjoyed some considerable success in recent years in the UK Championships competitions and regularly has teams qualifying for the Aviva Sportshall UK Final.
